Born March 4, 1970, raised in Detroit, MI, Demetris Dennis Taylor, affectionately known as Big Meach began cutting his acting and singing chops at an early age with his first stage role being "Santa Claus" in an elementary school Christmas Play. Since that time, Big Meach has been studying his craft and participating in many talent shows across the city of Detroit.
He officially began his career aspirations during his high school years as a founding member of Cody High School's critically acclaimed Drama Department, "La Troupe des Arts" under the direction of "Coach" Susan Storey.
Since his high school days, Big Meach has been working to cultivate his acting/singing/play writing/directing and producing skills with Detroit's local theatre community and night clubs across the state of Michigan and abroad with such shows as “Of Mice and Men”, “The Broken Calabash”, “Detroit Stories”, “The Silent Cry”, “Attitudes”, “God is Alive and Well” and “The Lottery”
In 1998, Big Meach created his own cabaret act that ran successfully for one year, ”Wacky, Wild and Wonderful Wednesdays”, where he displayed a myriad of characters including his alter ego, Samantha Stephens Divinity. In the summer of 2001 until winter 2002, he then teamed with his “partner in crime” George “Raw Silk” Marshall and successfully ran his second cabaret show, “Silk in the Afternoons”
In 2007, Big Meach moved to Atlanta to take his career to another level. He has added film work to his resume and you can see his work in such movies as "I Can Do Bad All by Myself", "Words to Kill", "Pastor Brown", “When Love was Simple” and "Kerberos"
Big Meach, under is pseudonym Samantha Stephens Divinity, penned is first stage play, "No Time for the Pain" and soon adapting it to screen. In 2009, Big Meach added Talk Show Host to his resume as he has created his own online radio show, "Dishing Tea with Big Meach" on the Blog Talk Radio Network and it is now developed into a Facebook and YouTube TV series.
In 2011, he published his first book, “Awakenings-Epiphanies Along a Spiritual Journey”.
In 2013, Big Meach became the host of a local television show, "Atlanta's Up and Rising" that aired on Atlanta's Public Access Channel as well as the Clark Atlanta University's school channel.
In 2018, Big Meach published his second book, "Revelations, Affirmations, & Confirmations" the companion piece to "Awakenings- Epiphanies Along a Spiritual Journey" and created his own fragrance oil line, "Scentuali-Tea"
He is a 2019 Magnum Cum Laude graduate of American Intercontinental University with his B.A. in Media Production. He is currently in production with directing his first movie, "Urban Camping"
He served as Vice Chair for 3 of his 4 year tenure on the Business and Industrial Development Authority Board (BIDA) for the City of College Park, GA.
He is also a current Board Member for the College Park Citizens Association, President of the Community Advisory Board for Someone Cares, LLC, and created his own non-profit/social justice ministry, "The House of Divinity"
And in 2023, Demetris Taylor became a candidate for Mayor of the City of College Park, GA. #MayorMeach
